Origins of Africa?!

The sample “It Began in Afrika” from the title track of the Chemical Brothers released in 2001 has been used by IAM (a french hip hop band) in 1991 for the title “Red, Black and Green”.

Details:

The section is from a song by Jim Ingram dating from 1974 and is called “Drumbeat”. Note that this section is on a break beat release by Fatboy Slim also called “It Began in Africa” (Fatboy Slim, whose real name is Norman Cook, then used the pseudo Urban All Stars).

IAM(band) is a French hip hop band from Marseille, created in 1989, and composed of Akhenaton (Philippe Fragione), Shurik’n (Geoffroy Mussard), Freeman (Malek Brahimi), Khéops (Eric Mazel), Imhotep (Pascal Perez), and Kephren (François Mendy)
