Arthur Rimbaud suddenly abandoned poetry in 1875, and was later known as a weapons merchant in Abyssinia.
Details:
Arthur Rimbaud -some people consider to be the greatest french poet ever- abandoned literature in 1875 to start over a new career in gold, animal skins and weapons traffic in the Colonies around 1880.
His story remains one of the greatest mysteries of french literature.
