The first music video ever broadcast on MTV was the Buggles' “Video Killed The Radio Star”.

Details:

On August 1, 1981, MTV launched with the words “Ladies and gentlemen, rock and roll,” spoken by John Lack. Then a jingle played over a montage of the Apollo 11 moon landing, followed by the video clip.

According to the network, it was a random choice…
