The first anti-smoking campaigns were launched during the Third Reich.
It was during this period (1933 to 1945), that the National Socialist State conducted a real war against tobacco in the larger context of the protection of the race (mental and physical healthcare, hygiene and fight against cancer).
Hitler has other launchings to his credit, like the Beetle and the Second World War!
(We often hear about Mother's Day and -though less- of German motorways, but a contributor has informed us that the first German motorway, the AVUS in Berlin, opened in 1921, and the motorway Köln-Bonn, the current A555, in 1932, thus before Hitler became chancellor in 1933. Mother's Day has been existing in Germany since 1923.)
